Subjects Taught
4th Grade ELA/Reading, 4th Grade Math

After completing a Bachelor of Science degree in History, I became certified to teach secondary Social Studies. I earned a Master of Science in Education, and then  added Special Education certification. I am Highly Qualified in all subject areas (ELA, Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies). I am now also certified to teach Early Childhood and Family and Consumer Science.

This is my 17th year teaching school. I have taught pre-school (Special Education and Regular Education), alternative school (Social Studies, grades 6-12) Youth GED Instruction (all subjects, ages 17-21), Special Education (all subjects, grades 4th, 7th, and 8th).

After graduating from Georgia Southwestern College with a Bachelor of Science in History, I became certified in the area of Social Studies while working as a Child Care Counselor for the Methodist Home for Children and Youth. My teaching experience began in Americus where I worked for First Baptist Preschool and  Bright Beginnings Preschool. While employed at Bright Beginnings, I earned a Master's degree in Education and gained employment with the Sumter County School System as the Social Studies teacher at Crossroads Alternative School. After working at Crossroads for two years teaching grades 6-12, I became a Special Education Preschool Teacher at P.E.E.C.H. Preschool. Working for P.E.E.C.H. was so enjoyable, I decided to become certified as a Special Education Teacher and did so by completing certification in Special Education General Curriculum. For two years I was employed by The Paxen Group, Inc. as the GED Instructor for the students 17-21 years of age. It was wonderful to see many of my former Crossroads students find success in this program and become employed or enrolled in college. After becoming Highly Qualified in the areas of Math, Science, Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies,  I also added certification in the areas of Early Childhood and Family and Consumer Science. I have been a Special Education Teacher with Sumter County Schools for seven years.
